Jazzieland

This brilliant Fashion Monster strikes again… AndAgainAndAgainAndAgain...
First stop on the Jazzieland tour, you need to see the movie 300. Or if you haven’t, I’m sure you’ve at least seen the billboards and a hint of the costumes, right? Well, Jazzie’s not one to brag, which is what I’m here for, but she’s up against the costume designer of 300 for a new movie, to do costume design that will leave 300 in the dust… literally. Warriors and villains alike will be dressed to the nines in animal bones dipped in metal tied, together with leather.
Normally beyond confident and overzealous, this time Jazzie is unsure if she will be chosen for the job. “It’s me against 300,” she says. “They see me as this little kid versus someone who’s done something like [the movie] before.”
This “little kid” has papers strewn across the Coffee Bean table where I meet her, a jumbled death pile, each design more twisted and magnificent than the last. If the job becomes hers, I believe this movie she is up for will be better known for its costumes than its plotline.
As if stringing together cow femurs with leather isn’t enough, Jazzie is also currently designing a small line of shirts and shoes for Topshop. Ragged and worn vintage band shirts are her main squeeze, so we’ll see what pops out of her “Hates Screen Prints” mind-set.
More importantly, keep your eyes peeled for her shoes. Jazzie’s shoes debut swoon-worthy styles coming all in one color – Black. But when you’re Jazzie, the things you can do with black are endless. Plain, shiny, glittery, and matte black are all combined to create masterpiece after masterpiece.
Prepare to be stuck on the edge of your seat, because that’s where I’m leaving you - until Jazzie’s Topshop shoes come out and you gobble them up so fast there won’t be time for buyer’s remorse.
The last stop in Jazzieland today is where I will leave you happily shopping. If you haven’t heard of and/or visited the www.ShopNastyGal.com site, you better get on it. Exploding with fashion inspiration of both the vintage and fresh-out-of-the-sewing-machine variety, Shop Nasty is not something to miss. Grab your smelling salts before you view the shoes; a Jeffrey Campbell coma is unavoidable.
Jazzie has to restrain herself from strangling me when she finds I’ve never heard of this online treasure chest. The favor shall be returned, once my wallet has been emptied on all of the little beauties waiting to be purchased.
